4K Ultra HD HDR HLG 10-Bit Filming

4K Ultra HD HDR HLG 10-Bit Filming. Wedding Videographer Tony Hailstone Video & Photography

What Is 4K Ultra HD 10-Bit HDR?

This is technical jargon for a series of quality improvements made recently in home and cinema technology.

4K (Ultra HD) refers to the size (aka resolution) of the picture. It offers 4-times the resolution over normal HD video and a whopping SIXTEEN TIMES compared to DVD. The detail jumps off the screen giving it a film-like quality.

10-bit refers to the colours that are captured. Regular TV is 8-bit which offers a colour palette of around 16-million colours. However, 10-bit can capture up to a ridiculous 1-billion colours which means more vibrant images and smoother gradients such as skies. It also allows us to tweak the image more during editing to really get the most out of it.

And finally, HDR processing is the latest TV technology showcasing a more natural image on screen, allowing extra information simultaneously in the darkest and brightest parts of the image for a truly cinematic feel to the image.

All these technologies are the bleeding edge of what can be provided and we are excited to offer this for your wedding day.

Do I need a new TV?

Short answer “no” but to make the most of your wedding film, a 4K TV compatible with HLG HDR signals is ideal. However, it is not essential. All our films are compatible with any Smart TV and because we start with the highest quality source material, the converted film will look amazing too.
